Vitalant’s CEO Becomes First Blood Services Leader to Join CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Coalition

Vitalant President & CEO David R. Green committed himself and Vitalant to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace by joining the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion coalition. Though one of more than 1,000 CEOs across the U.S. that have pledged, Green is the first CEO of a blood service provider to make this commitment. He is joined as a main coalition delegate by Vitalant Chief People Officer Peter Michaelson.

By signing on to this commitment, Vitalant pledges to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected, and where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion. The collective shares best known actions, exchanges tangible learning opportunities and creates collaborative conversations through the initiative’s unified hub, CEOAction.com. Organizational planning is a critical first step and Vitalant is actively hiring for a Diversity & Inclusion Director to strategically guide the organization forward in this effort.

“As a leader — and as a human being — I know we must constantly work to further racial justice and equality. Vitalant pledges to contribute to change in a sustained and meaningful way,” said Green. “CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion will help Vitalant further cultivate an inclusive and supportive work environment where employees can openly address challenges, present opportunities, and share perspectives. We know this will positively extend to the communities we serve.”

The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion is led by a steering committee of CEOs and leaders from Accenture, BCG, Deloitte US, The Executive Leadership Council, EY, General Atlantic, KPMG, New York Life, Procter & Gamble, and PwC. The coalition represents 85 industries, all 50 US States, and millions of employees globally.
