Recovered From COVID-19? Donate Convalescent Plasma
People who have recovered from COVID-19 can join Vitalant’s COVID Rescue Team to donate potentially lifesaving convalescent plasma. Being part of the team has never been more important. This special blood plasma contains antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and each donation could be used to help up to four people still fighting COVID-19.
To be eligible for the COVID Rescue Team, you must have had COVID-19 symptoms plus:
- A prior laboratory diagnosis of COVID-19, either by a positive nasal/oral swab test OR a positive test for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies requested by your health care provider
- Complete resolution of symptoms for at least 28 days
- Meet all other donor eligibility for an automated plasma donation
If you meet all the criteria above, book an appointment online by entering your zip code. After submitting your zip code, use any donate button to schedule a COVID plasma appointment (or plasma appointment if COVID plasma is not listed as a procedure type in your location).

Blood donors are NOT tested for coronavirus. Do not donate blood if you are sick.
NOTE: Donors who receive a positive antibody test result from Vitalant or any other blood bank or community screening effort are NOT automatically qualified to give a convalescent plasma donation. We strongly encourage you to come back and donate plasma so we can test your blood again per new FDA guidance to further determine your antibody status. If your blood tests positive again for antibodies, your plasma could go to a COVID-19 patient and you would be eligible to give future convalescent plasma donations.
