You are vital to your community.
THANK YOU, LORI, FOR 37 WONDERFUL YEARS
She Leaves an Indelible Mark on Our Organization
International Volunteer Managers Day is a time to recognize those who manage volunteers and the role they play in the mobilization and support of them all over the world. These key leaders share their time, skills and empathy, which can help create stronger, more prosperous communities.
Please join us in celebrating Lori during International Volunteer Managers Day. After 37 years with Vitalant, Lori will be retiring at the end of this year. Lori has worn many hats over the years, but most recently, she’s been our volunteer services specialist in Billings, Montana. During her tenure, she has led a team of 21 volunteers, who together have donated 20,188 hours and driven a remarkable 611,049 miles transporting blood products from remote blood drives to get them processed and directly to patients in hospitals.
“I believe in our mission,” Lori said. “Over the years being part of helping people, I recognize that our center must help each other and work together. I want to make sure our staff have what they need to provide a safe product.”
Having been around the block a few times, Lori recognizes the importance of transporting blood products in an efficient and safe way, which is why she has committed to volunteering once she retires at the end of the year.
“I have always been a volunteer, wanting to help others. I understand the need and want to do what I can to help. In Montana and Wyoming, our blood drives are so spread out. It can be difficult to find a way to return the blood to the center for processing. Many times, we do not have the option of using couriers in our areas. By volunteering, I know I can help in an incredibly positive way.”
Lori, thank you for creating a supportive, inspiring environment and for the strong foundation you've built for our Billings volunteer program. We are deeply grateful for your commitment and heart — and how you help change the world one day at a time.
