Vitalant is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood and biotherapies healthcare organizations, providing hospitals and patients across the U.S. a safe blood supply, specialized laboratory services, transfusion medicine expertise and world-renowned research. Individuals generously donating blood, volunteering and giving financially are essential to our lifesaving mission.

At Vitalant, we are committed to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, seen and heard.

Embracing the RITE Values

Vitalant embraces the RITE Values of respect, integrity, teamwork and excellence and encourages everyone to apply these values to create a positive environment for donors, staff, customers and volunteers.

When visiting Vitalant, and in general, please:

  • Be respectful of others

Ensuring a stable blood supply requires donors of all types. Everyone is here to help achieve the same goal. Please be polite, courteous and considerate of others, including fellow donors and Vitalant staff.

  • Communicate with integrity

Obscene, harassing or harmful language and behavior, including but not limited to hate speech, racial slurs and obscene gestures or actions, will not be tolerated.

  • Act responsibly

We’re all part of the same lifesaving team. Violating any Vitalant policy or federal, state or local law, regulation or ordinance is strictly prohibited. Those whose behavior risks disrupting the environment will be asked to stop or may be asked to leave the premises.

  • Practice inclusion

Help make everyone feel welcome and appreciated for their contributions. We do not tolerate discrimination on any basis.

  • Creating a safe and welcoming environment is a shared responsibility, and we ask everyone to contribute to this goal. We expect individuals to treat each other appropriately, free of bias or discrimination. If anyone encounters inappropriate behavior, they are encouraged to seek out and speak to a management team member.

Critical to achieving Vitalant’s mission are the dedicated and amazing donors and employees throughout our organization. Ensuring these individuals feel accepted, included, welcomed, valued and appreciated is so critical to our success. Vitalant strives to welcome everyone in our diverse communities to participate in supporting our mission and saving the lives of our fellow neighbors. That is extremely powerful.
