Here’s how it works:
- Step 1: Give 4 or more blood donations with Vitalant from Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2026. NOTE: see below for other ways to qualify.
- Step 2: Within a few days of giving your qualifying donation, you’ll receive an email encouraging you to visit the Vitalant online donor store to order your backpack cooler.* Donor Rewards program opt-in is required.
- Step 3: Proudly plan a picnic, head to a tailgate or enjoy a day at the pool with your new backpack cooler, knowing you’ve made a difference for trauma patients.

Important information:
- Type O donors will qualify for the backpack cooler in 2026 by giving:
- 4 or more whole blood donations.
- 2 whole blood and 1 Power Red donations.
- 2 Power Red donations.
- Once you qualify, you’ll receive a congratulations email from us. Plus, you’ll be notified that you’ve earned the backpack cooler in the post-donation thank-you email.
- You need to have an online donor account AND be opted into the Donor Rewards program to be able to order the backpack cooler in the online donor store.
- Within two days after donation, log in to your donor account, then click “Rewards” and “Redeem Rewards” to enter the online donor rewards store to order the backpack cooler. (Note: there are no bonus rewards points associated with this backpack cooler; donors who qualify to receive it will see it displayed in the online donor store.)
- The backpack cooler will NOT be handed out at the blood donation location.
- Limit of 1 backpack cooler per donor.
- Final date to redeem in the online donor store is Jan. 29, 2027.
- Please allow up to 3 weeks to receive the backpack cooler in the mail. While supplies last.

*Type O donors who give four (4) whole blood donations, or two (2) whole blood donations plus one (1) Power Red donation, or two (2) Power Red donations during the promotional time frame (Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2026) are eligible to redeem for the backpack cooler in the online Donor Rewards store ONLY if they’ve first created an online donor account AND opted into the Donor Rewards program. Limit one (1) backpack cooler per donor. Backpack coolers will NOT be handed out at the blood drive or donation center. Offer is non-transferable and not redeemable for cash. Offer is subject to change at any time during the promotional time frame. Within two days after donation, the backpack cooler will be available in the online donor store. Some donors may qualify for an additional promotion during this same time frame. Vitalant reserves the right to send a gift of equal value in replacement of presented offer.
