Hemoglobin A1C test will appear in your wellness results before September, but no results will be available until a qualifying September donation is made. Only donations made during September will be tested for A1C.
This September, your blood donation can do more than save lives — it can help you take charge of your own health. We're offering free hemoglobin A1C testing to all donors throughout the month.
This simple test helps monitor your blood sugar levels and can be a key indicator in preventing or managing diabetes. It’s a win-win: You help patients in need and gain valuable health insights — without a trip to the doctor or a charge to your pocketbook. Plus, you'll still receive our standard wellness screenings, including free cholesterol testing.
Make a difference — for others and for yourself!

What Is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a condition where your body has trouble managing sugar in your blood. Normally, your body uses a hormone called insulin to help move sugar from the food you eat into your cells for energy. In diabetes, your body either doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t use it effectively. This causes sugar to build up in your blood, which over time can lead to serious health problems like heart disease, kidney damage, and vision problems.

Result | A1C Level |
Normal | Less than 5.7 |
Prediabetes | 5.7-6.4 |
Diabetes | 6.5 or higher |
Your A1C test result will be reported as a numerical value within your online account, along with your other wellness results. The higher the A1C number, the higher your blood glucose levels over the past two to three months.
- If your A1C level is between 5.7 and less than 6.5, your levels are in the prediabetes range. If you have a HbA1C level of 6.5 or higher, your levels are in the diabetes range.
- A1C levels can vary by each person's age and other factors, and your target may be different from someone else's. The goal for most adults with diabetes is an A1C that is less than 7.
- Important: This test is provided for informational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose or replace medical advice. Please discuss your results with a healthcare provider.
Can I Still Donate Blood if I’m Prediabetic or Have Diabetes?
