Join Vitalant in supporting the We Give Blood Drive, a nationwide competition powered by Abbott and the Big Ten Conference, running August 27–December 5, 2025.

This friendly but life-saving challenge encourages blood donors across the country to give blood and credit their favorite Big Ten school. The school with the most logged donations will win $1 million, announced at the Big Ten Championship Game on December 6.

Here’s How You Can Get Involved

• Donate Blood
  • Give at any Vitalant location during the campaign window. After donating, head to bigten.org/abbott to submit proof of your donation and credit your school.

• Donate on We Give Blood Day – August 27
  • Kick off the campaign with us! All donors who give on August 27 and log their donation will receive a vintage-style T-shirt designed by Homefield for their selected Big Ten school. You will receive information from Abbott and Big Ten (not Vitalant) about how to claim your T-shirt.

• Host a Blood Drive or Virtual Blood Drive (VBD)
  • Whether you're part of an alumni group, fan club, workplace, or community organization, you can make a huge impact by hosting a mobile blood drive or virtual blood drive to rally donors under your school’s banner.

• Spread the Word
  • Encourage friends, family, coworkers, and fellow fans to donate and log their donations. Share your school pride and the reason you give by tagging @vitalant and using #WeGiveBloodDrive on social media.
