Junior League of Memphis is celebrating 100 years with a blood drive to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer Awareness Month runs from Oct. 1-31 each year to shed light on the impact of breast cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, there is a 1 in 8 chance a woman will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Increased awareness in the form of screenings and education is key to fighting the disease.
Junior League of Memphis is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, community development, and developing the potential of women. They are hosting this blood drive because they know that breast cancer patients may require blood transfusions to recover during treatment.
The blood on hospital shelves only comes from volunteer blood donors, so schedule your blood donation today and help save a life. *All JLM members will receive 3 Community Shift points for donating and receive 3 points for bringing a friend (or friends!). You can receive a maximum of 6 Community Shift points for donating.*
