Route 66 Blood Drives
In 2026, communities across the country will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66, the iconic highway established in 1926. Arizona plays a central role in this milestone, with 385.2 miles of the longest remaining unbroken stretch of historic Route 66, running from Lupton to just west of Kingman.
As these communities honor the legacy of the Mother Road, Vitalant continues its mission of saving lives across Arizona. As the state’s largest nonprofit community blood provider, Vitalant supplies blood to 72 hospitals and serves 11 of Arizona’s 15 counties, including Maricopa County. With one in five hospital patients needing a blood transfusion, nearly 700 Arizona donors are needed every day, including holidays, to ensure lifesaving care is always available.
