As a blood donor, you already play a vital role in helping patients by giving blood regularly. But you might wonder: Why does Vitalant also ask for financial donations?

The answer is simple: Your financial support strengthens blood collection and fuels many parts of our mission to ensure lifesaving blood is available whenever and wherever it’s needed. The Vitalant Foundation, our fundraising arm, has contributed over $25 million to support efforts like: recruiting more blood donors and staff, expanding our donor base, reaching more communities, and supporting new and existing programs that address the ongoing need for blood and blood donations.

Vitalant is more than a blood bank, and financial donations also support important and innovative research that benefits patients, donors and our communities. As one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood and biotherapies organizations, Vitalant also:
  • Operates a research institute that explores new ways to improve safety, collection and storage of blood products.
  • Offers hundreds of healthcare-related services, including testing over 116,000 samples each month.
  • Recently launched an innovation center to turn scientific breakthroughs into real-world solutions.
If you’re unable to give blood — or want to do even more — a financial gift to the Vitalant Foundation is another way to save lives. Many people donate in honor or memory of someone touched by blood donation.
