Second Donation Is the Charm for October Giveaway Winner

Knowing he had a rare blood type, Brett Y. of California gave blood in August for the first time because he wanted to help people. What he never could have known is that two months later, during his second blood donation, he’d win a $10,000 gift card! 

Vitalant’s “Tune Up Your Technology” Giveaway ran from Oct. 1-31, promising the winner enough to purchase the latest tech gadget or device they’d been eyeballing (or whatever else their heart desired).  

During the giveaway time frame, thousands of donors gave blood, but only one could be randomly selected as the winner. Once selected, Brett was notified by Vitalant staff and emailed electronic gift cards to redeem at a variety of online stores, including major retailers, restaurants, airlines and specialty shops. 

Brett describes the experience of learning he had won as “amazing and unexpected.” Winning was the farthest thing from his mind when he gave blood at his local donation center — he was only motivated to share the gift of his rare blood type.  

He says he will definitely continue giving blood, inspired by his desire to be of service to others.  

“It’s very rewarding, and Vitalant is a class-act organization. I could not recommend donating with them enough,” says Brett.
